5 Minimalist Cabinets for 2022

Home | cabinets

Life can get cluttered. Minimalist design has been all the rage and has made its way to minimalist cabinets. Rasmussen Custom Cabinets can provide any style that fits your home. Not only will your home feel more like a sanctuary from hectic life but, your kitchen will feel elegant and put together. Here are five minimalist cabinets that we are sure will simplify your home.

minimalist cabinets

Cerused Oak

This type of Oak is relatively new in the cabinet design sphere but many are already in love with it. This is a light form of Oak and is a great option if you are looking to lighten and brighten your space. Ceruse is a white lead-based pigment used to coat the wood and make the coloring more muted and emphasize the texture. This technique is used in place of bleaching or whitewashing and is a more simple option.

If you are wanting a darker look, Oak comes in many varieties and can be stained to be darker or lighter like cerused Oak. Whatever your kitchen or bathroom design is, a minimalist cabinet can be formed from Oak.

Flat Paneled

Having a flat cabinet with no ornate design shouts minimalistic. These slab minimalist cabinets are easier to clean, require less material and are more modern. This style seems to come in and out of style every few years but they are simple and can be made in a variety of colors and styles.

Many individuals use this style in country kitchens to help simplify their décor and color scheme but don’t limit it to just the kitchen. Flat panels would work great in play rooms, offices and bathrooms to provide a clean finish to the space.

Black and Marbled

When you think of minimalist cabinets you may not pick black. This look can be used to make the kitchen stand out and look sleek and professional. Having sleek black cabinets gives you room to incorporate a marble or granite countertop. A marble island can be a statement piece while your cabinets add to it, instead of detract.

Flat cabinets would look best as not to detract from the intricate marble design and help your mind to flow through the space naturally. If flat cabinets don’t jive with your vision there are other simple cabinet styles like Shaker, that can look beautiful in your space.

Lacquered

These cabinets and some dimension to your kitchen. The coating gives a high gloss shine but can actually come in matte, medium and high gloss. These cabinets are also highly durable and more damage resistant keeping your minimalistic design perfect for an extended amount of time.

Just make sure that the lacquer is applied correctly as it can get blotchy. Lacquer will also break down faster with moisture or steam so it is best to keep these minimalist cabinets away from stoves or sinks.

Matte

If the high gloss look doesn’t fit your vision, matte finishes are also in style for minimalists. Matte cabinets are the way to go if you don’t want to clean your cabinets as often but they are harder to clean. They also don’t show scratches and have a more natural appearance as they don’t reflect light.

Since it doesn’t reflect light and absorbs it, this finish can make your kitchen feel smaller. Matte finishes help your cabinets to blend in and look more flat, so if other elements in your kitchen need to stand out, matte finishes can be a great way to keep your cabinets simple.

Whether you want modern, traditional, eclectic or minimalist, Rasmussen would love to add our custom work to your home. Our website features a portfolio of homes in Tremonton, Mantua, Huntsville, Kaysville and more.

Cabinets for small spaces

If you are redesigning your kitchen, bathroom or other small space in your home, you are going to want to maximize as much of it as possible. Keeping things organized and designing a layout that is beautiful but extremely functional are important to keep in mind when choosing cabinets for small spaces.

Your cabinets should look clean, while also providing you with the most storage possible. There are ways to have your cabinets help you out and even make your space look bigger than it actually is. If you are interested in how to make the most of your space, continue on to learn more about cabinets for small spaces.

White Doors

White cabinets are still the most popular color for kitchens. Spaces that are small can benefit from white cabinet doors because they reflect natural light, making your space appear more open and airy. Choosing white also gives you a clean look, which is perfect for cabinets for small spaces because the more cluttered, the smaller your space feels.

Shaker cabinets are also the optimal style to choose because of their refined look. You can learn more about styles of cabinet doors from our other blog.

Small And Slim Cabinets

If your kitchen or bathroom has a small nook next to an appliance, sink or door, use it! Creating slim tall cabinets can help to add more storage and fill the space up nicely.

You can also squeeze in cubbies to fill the space above a window or your range hood. Adding shelves to blank space on your walls, or having a slide out “pantry” that fits right next to your refrigerator. Getting creative with all the space you have can help you create more storage in a smaller space.

Glass Cabinet Doors

Using glass has a similar effect as having white cabinets. Glass doors to your pantry or in all your cabinets helps to create an illusion of a bigger space. Having glass doors also means that people will be able to see what is inside your cabinets, which provides a fun opportunity to display your china, antiques or other aesthetic items and storage. Keep in mind that whatever is inside your cupboards will be seen so it is important to keep them organized.

Cabinets for small spaces

Ditch The Hardware

If your kitchen or bathroom feels cramped, an easy way to streamline the look is to go for flat cabinet doors without hardware. Cabinets for small spaces that ditch the hardware is the perfect hack. Keeping the look simple and choosing a paint color that is inviting can help to open up the space.

Magnetized

If you are looking for more storage space, without building full cabinets, look into magnetized organizers and shelves. Cabinets for small spaces can get cramped, but having a magnetic spice rack or knife holder can help keep them off your counter space or leave more cabinet space for you to use. Plus, it can add a fun design element to you home that is very unique.

Metal Or Mirrored

Believe it or not, cabinets are one of the last things to go in your kitchen. If you have done all that you can to make the most of your small space but still want some glamor for your kitchen, metal or mirror cabinet doors are a good final touch. Adding this modern look will help your kitchen look more professional but again, it can help open up the space and reflect the lighting.

Thinking outside the box for cabinets can make you feel like you’re in the showroom. No need to sacrifice all of your wants in the kitchen or bathroom. Just make the most of cabinets for small spaces.

Appealing cabinet

You’re building a new home and the time has come to choose an appealing design for your cabinets. Is your style more modern or do you like simple and classic? Below is a list of popular, trending and appealing cabinet doors that will add a touch of your personality to your home.

Shaker Cabinet Doors

This classic design has been popular for many years and is one of the most appealing cabinet doors in the industry. This option resembles a frame with a recessed center panel. This look is sleek with options for multiple colors, woods and finishes and is a great option for a minimalistic look. A positive aspect of Shaker is that it is more timeless and will not go out of style. These are also durable and versatile which is a great option for a first time home and will last over many years of wear and tear. For those on a budget, the Shaker design is desirable because it can be made easily and cost effective.

Glass Ready Doors

If you are looking for more modern and trendy this option is for you. Glass cabinets are designed with a rout on the back to fit a glass panel instead of wood. These are popular in today’s homes because it helps to create the appearance of the space being bigger than it actually is. Glass doors provide clean lines and an open and airy space. Another aspect of this design is the ability to see the items through the glass. This can provide some more color to your space and an interesting element.

Revere Cabinet Doors

Heritage and Revere doors are similar but the revere design is more ornate with slight embellishments that can be a statement piece in your kitchen. This design is also more classic and can be made in many different materials or colors. If you like many options but don’t want to be too flashy, revere could be the right choice for you. Adding a more modern color or wood can make this style stand out against the rest of your appliances in your kitchen.

Contempo Doors

Another modern and appealing design is the contempo style. These doors are flat and are not too distracting to the rest of the space. Raw natural wood is a great option for these doors but can also be painted or stained in bold bright colors. Cabinets in this style blend in seamlessly with the rest of the space but will not soon be forgotten.

5 Of The Most Appealing Cabinet Doors

Sliding Doors

Another unconventional style is sliding barn doors. These doors can typically be used on pantries or tall cabinets. If you are looking for a more rustic style but wanting functionality this is the option for you. Choosing this option has been very popular in recent years and continues to stay on trend. This may not be as classic as some of the other styles in this list but will work functionally in your home all the same.

Mixing Styles

Multiple of these styles may have caught your eye. While some may want all their choices to match there is no rule that all your cabinet doors have to match. You can decide what looks complement each other and even what colors or materials complement each other. Your higher cabinets can be one color while the lower is another. However, keep in mind that too much going on can make your space feel crowded and hectic. While your home is yours and only yours, keep in mind how the design makes you feel and will function.
